The Preserve Indoor Range Rules

1. Federal Law states you must be 21 years of age to purchase, sell, rent, or loan a handgun or handgun ammunition.

2. Under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian at all times.

3. Review the below list of The Range at the Preserve safety rules and indicate whether each rule is true or false. a) All members are to ALWAYS treat all firearms as if they are loaded. True or False b) Always keep your firearm pointed DOWN range. True or False c) Always keep your finger off the trigger until you are ready to FIRE. True or False d) Beware and always INDENTIFY your target.

4. ONLY shoot at your target.

5. DO NOT remove a jammed or malfunctioning firearm from the firing line without the Range Safety Officers approval.

6. NO forms of food, beverages, gum, alcohol, tobacco or drugs are permitted in the range.

7. All Federal, State and Local Laws are to be adhered to.

8. Convicted felons are NOT allowed on the range.

9. The following types of ammunition are NOT allowed on the range: Tracer/Incendiary, Armor Piercing, Bird Shot, Buck Shot and Black Powder.

10. There will be NO shooting from the hip. All firearms must have sights installed and the sights must be utilized.

11. Eye and Ear protection must be worn at all times on the range before entering the range and they are not to be removed until you are out of the firing range area.

12. When ammunition malfunctions or issues with your firearm occur, immediately place the firearm on the bench facing down range and step back away from the bench then call the Range Safety Officer “RSO” immediately for assistance.

13. NO one is permitted forward of the firing line at any time.

14. When you here the command “CEASE FIRE and/or observe the RED LIGHT turned on in your lane; Stop shooting immediately, CEASE FIRE and place your firearm on safe, remove the magazine and lock the slide to the rear or open the chamber. You are then to place the firearm on the bench with it pointed down range, BACK AWAY FROM THE FIRING LINE IMMEDATELY and wait for further instructions by the Range Safety Officer.

15. Pregnant woman or people subject to seizures are NOT allowed on the range.

16. Cleaning firearms in the range is NOT permitted.

17. Each shooter will be held financially responsible for any damage caused to the range property or equipment, whether accidental, willful, or otherwise.

18. Closed toed shoes are required on the range at all times.

19. Anyone displaying unsafe actions on the range will be asked to correct their behavior. Safety violations may result in your permanent removal from the range.

20. All loaded magazines must be unloaded prior to entering the range.

21. The minimum age to use the range is 12 years old and accompanied by a parent or legal guardian.

22. All firearms must be in a case or range bag until you are in your assigned booth.

23. Any firearm that is not currently being used must have the magazine out and the slide locked back. Only unloaded firearms should be laid down on the bench. Once you are done shooting, all unloaded firearms should be placed back into your bag or case on the bench while still being pointed down range.

24. You should always wash your hands immediately after shooting your firearm to remove all lead contamination.

25. Only paper targets are to be used on the range.

26. Failure to adhere to the rules at the The Range at the Preserve may lead to loss of shooting privileges and / or removal from the range.

27. When you are finished shooting and ready to exit the range, you are to remove the magazine, lock the slide to the rear or open the chamber. You then place the firearm on the bench with it pointed down range, and wait for the Range Safety Officer to check your firearm to ensure it is unloaded before exiting the range.
